Horrific Discovery: 21 Bodies Dug Up in Kenya ‘Starvation Cult’ Case

Kenyan police have unearthed 21 bodies near Malindi’s Shakahola forest, sparking outrage and fear. The victims are linked to Good News International Church, led by preacher Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, who reportedly urged his followers to starve themselves to “meet Jesus.” Chillingly, dead children were among the bodies exhumed, with police warning that more graves could still be found.

Cult Leader in Custody as Shocking Gravesite Grows

The grim gravesite, uncovered after 15 cult members were rescued, now has 58 burial spots identified. State media KBC labelled Mr Mackenzie a “cult leader.” One grave held five family members — three children and their parents — all believed to have died from starvation.

Mackenzie denies any crimes and claims he closed the church in 2019, but he remains in custody awaiting a court hearing. Bail has been denied.

Dark Rituals and Police Investigation

Authorities say the preacher named villages after biblical places like Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Judea, baptising followers in ponds before ordering them to fast to death.

Pathologists are conducting DNA tests and autopsies to confirm starvation as the cause of death. Victor Kaudo of the Malindi Social Justice Centre expressed his horror: “When we are in this forest and come to an area where we see a big and tall cross, we know that means more than five people are buried there.”
