Two Men Attacked with Unknown Substance in Jaywick

Police are hunting three suspects after two men had an unknown substance thrown over them in Jaywick.

The shocking attack happened just after 9pm on Friday, 9 October, on The Broadway. The victims, both in their 30s, rushed into nearby shops for help and doused themselves in water to wash off the unknown substance.

Woman Collapses but No Serious Injuries

A woman at the scene collapsed due to fumes from the substance. Paramedics and police arrived quickly, and thankfully no one suffered serious harm.

Officers say the attack appears targeted, not random, and there’s no ongoing risk to the public.

Three Suspects on the Run

  • One suspect wore a black tracksuit
  • Another was seen in a grey tracksuit
  • All three fled the scene before police arrived

Chief Insp Rob Huddleston said: “While the public will rightly be concerned, incidents like this are extremely rare.”

“We believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat to the community. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
