Third Man Busted Over Brutal 2018 Enfield Murder
After six years of relentless digging through CCTV and phone records, Kyle Gordon, 24, from Enfield, has finally been locked up for the savage murder of 23-year-old Russell Jordan Jones. The verdict was handed down at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 14 March, with Gordon sentenced to 28 years behind bars.
Wicked Attack on Innocent Victims
Detective Sergeant Joanne Donoghue of the Met’s Specialist Crime North Homicide Team called the assault “wicked” and “ferocious.” The gang armed themselves before targeting Russell and his friends — none of whom were involved in gangs. The vicious attack unfolded in the early hours of 17 March 2018, when masked men in dark clothing ambushed the group.
Russell was both stabbed and shot during the brutal confrontation, with another victim also suffering knife wounds. Paramedics rushed to the scene but, tragically, Russell was pronounced dead on arrival.
Justice Served After Lengthy Legal Battle
This wasn’t Gordon’s first trial. His initial court case at the Old Bailey ended with no verdict. But during Monday’s retrial, he was found guilty of murder, grievous bodily harm, and possession of a firearm.
“We commend Russell’s family for their patience and dignity throughout this long process,” said DS Donoghue. “We hope this verdict brings them some peace.”
Others Behind Bars for Same Crime
Two other men convicted of Russell’s murder were sentenced to 29 years each back in January 2019. A third suspect, convicted in June 2023, received a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years.
