Three Held in Major Drugs Bust Linked to County Lines

Three men are in police custody, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs, money laundering, and involvement in organised crime. They’re awaiting questioning following the swoop by law enforcement.

£12,000 Cash and Drugs Seized in Raids

Officers from Challenger’s COM South organised crime team, backed by the Tactical Aid Unit, raided several properties. They seized cash totaling approximately £12,000 and a quantity of Class A drugs. The operation targets a suspected county lines criminal network.

Inside the Brutal World of County Lines and ‘Cuckooing’

County lines gangs advertise illegal drugs via mobile phones, known as ‘graft lines.’ Dealers transport the drugs across towns and counties to feed demand.

Worryingly, these gangs prey on the vulnerable—often disabled or addicted individuals. They move into victims’ homes, turning them into drug dens and pushing the residents into confined spaces, too scared to leave. This sinister tactic is called cuckooing.

One raided address was identified as a potential cuckooing victim’s home, allowing police to step in with safeguarding measures to protect those at risk.

Police Urge Public to Spot and Report Drug Crime

Detective Inspector Newburn, from Challenger’s COM South, said: “This morning we have detained three men who we suspect were controlling a property used to store and deal Class A drugs.

“We have disrupted that property to safeguard those at risk and dismantle the threat posed by organised criminals.”

“I urge the public to learn the signs of drug activity and criminal exploitation and to report anything suspicious. Together, we can protect vulnerable people.”
