Three men nabbed within an hour and hit with rape charges in just 48 hours

Security guard’s quick action leads to arrests

A security guard spotted the chilling attack live on CCTV and instantly called police. Footage revealed the trio forcing a young woman down a dark alley before taking turns raping her.

Police rushed to the scene and arrested all three suspects nearby.

Victim receives specialist support

The brave woman received help from specially trained officers throughout the ordeal and investigation. She had no recollection of the attack but aided the case.

Investigation leads to swift justice

Detective Sergeant Harry Nunez said:

“This was an atrocious attack on a young woman who was subjected to serious, sustained sexual violence. I want to recognise the victim’s bravery in supporting the investigation throughout. Early police work securing CCTV and forensic evidence was key to building a strong case against these evil men.”

Detective Constable Ben Wallen added:

“This result wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible efforts of officers on scene and the Serious Sexual Offences team. I hope this reassures victims that the police will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”

Sentences handed down at Snaresbrook Crown Court

The attack happened at 6am on Sunday, 10 July 2022 in Barking town centre. The three men were found guilty of rape after a two-week trial and sentenced on 13 March:

  • Miguel Clino, 20, of Norfolk Road, Barking – 8 years imprisonment
  • Devon Cato, 20, of Boundary Road, E13 – 7 years imprisonment
  • Nizandro Caimanque, 21, of Central Park Road, E6 – 7 years and 6 months imprisonment

Thanks to fast police action and forensic work, justice was delivered swiftly for the victim in this sickening crime.
