Brutal Six-Hour Torture Shackled London Trio Behind Bars
Charlie Saunter, William O’Brien, and Kai Haruna unleashed a horrific, hours-long assault on their victim using knives, boiling salt water, and even a homemade flame thrower. The savage attack took place at a home on London Road, Gravesend, on the evening of July 5, 2020.
Barbaric Ordeal: Knife Cuts, Burns, and Worse
The victim endured repeated knife slashes, severe burns, dog bites, and horrific genital mutilation. Haruna even jumped on the man’s chest until he lost consciousness. The motive? A brutal dispute over money and drug supply. Shocking video of the torture was circulated on social media before police stepped in.
Arrest and Sentencing
Later that day, cops hauled Saunter, O’Brien, and Haruna into custody. Officers seized two knives plus significant amounts of heroin and crack cocaine during the arrests. The trio faced tough justice:
- Charlie Saunter was jailed for 13 years and six months
- William O’Brien got 11 years
- Kai Haruna received eight years and three months
They must serve two-thirds of their sentences before parole eligibility. Upon release, all will face an extended four-year licence period, with any breach triggering immediate return to prison.
Police: ‘Violent criminals with zero regard for the law’
Detective Constable John Carless, Kent Police’s County Line and Gangs Team, said: “This case highlights the brutal violence linked to drug supply. Haruna, O’Brien, and Saunter subjected their victim to vicious torture for six hours. These men are dangerous criminals who show no respect for the law.”
