Two Men Nabbed After Drugs Thrown from Car on M23
Police stopped a silver Mercedes A150 on the M23 between Gatwick and Crawley at 5.30pm on Thursday 8 April. As officers brought the car to a halt, a package was thrown out the window containing crack cocaine and heroin worth around £6,000 on the streets.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrests
Officers from Sussex Police’s Specialist Enforcement Unit teamed up with the West Sussex Community Investigation Team to snap up the suspects. A follow-up search at a Crawley home uncovered £10,000 in cash and more drugs.
Duo Charged with Intent to Supply
- Liam Thomas Batchelor, 34, unemployed, of Boswell Road, Crawley
- James Andrew Remmer, 32, tree surgeon, of Warwick Close, Holmwood, Surrey
Both appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12 April, charged with possession of crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply. They were remanded in custody ahead of their trial, set for Lewes Crown Court on a date yet to be announced.
Police Crackdown Continues
“These charges result from a co-ordinated police operation involving different units working together as part of our continuing activity to combat dangerous drug supply across the county,” said Detective Constable Richard Taylor.
