Knife and Chair Leg Attackers Jailed for Brutal Snodland Assault
Two thugs have been locked up after brutally attacking a man with a knife and a broken chair leg in Snodland.
Violent Home Invasion
Barry Bonner, 41, and Paul Dudley, 33, headed to a private home on 19 January 2018. The pair knocked on the door, where a teenage boy answered. Bonner immediately grabbed a large kitchen knife and threatened to stab the boy and his dog.
The homeowner, who knew the two men, arrived shortly after. Despite his efforts to calm things down, Bonner and Dudley launched a savage assault. They punched the man repeatedly and tried to stab him with the knife.
Brutal Beating with Chair Leg
The attackers then struck the victim with a chair leg until it snapped. Fighting back, the victim managed to force them out before calling the police. He suffered facial cuts and bruises but escaped more serious harm.
Caught and Convicted
Officers quickly tracked down Bonner and Dudley at Snodland railway station. Both were arrested and charged with attempting grievous bodily harm. At Maidstone Crown Court on 19 July, they were each sentenced to eight years in prison.
Detective Sergeant Tom Daveney said: “This vicious attack is believed to have resulted from a previous disagreement. The victim tried to calm the situation down but his attackers were intent on causing him harm. His injuries could have been much worse and I would like to commend him for assisting us to bring these offenders to justice.”
