Knife Attackers Sentenced After Brutal Watford Stabbing
Two men have been locked up for violent knife attacks in Watford after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm.
Sarout Gets Nearly Six Years for Stabbing Teen
Sami Sarout, 28, a man with no fixed address, was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 26 January. The jury found him guilty of Section 18 GBH. He was handed a hefty term of five years and 10 months.
Mohammed Jailed for Under Three Years for Multiple Offences
Ali Mohammed, 21, formerly of Milling Road, Edgware, was sentenced on 10 November to two years and nine months. He was convicted of Section 20 GBH, robbery, perverting the course of justice, and breaching a Community Protection Notice (CPN).
Violent Raid on Beechen Grove Flat
- On the evening of Monday 18 November 2019, Sarout and Mohammed broke into a flat off Beechen Grove.
- Sarout pulled out a large knife and stabbed a 16-year-old boy twice in the arm. The deep wounds needed surgery under general anaesthetic.
- Mohammed brandished a kitchen knife and tried to stab a 20-year-old man, who fought back and suffered a thumb injury during the scuffle.
- Both victims, known to their attackers, escaped to the flat’s balcony, locked the door, and flagged down a passing police car for help.
- They received medical treatment and have since made full recoveries.
Sarout and Mohammed fled before police arrived but were later arrested, charged, and remanded.
Police Warn: Knife Crime in Watford Won’t Be Tolerated
“This was a challenging investigation but the jury deliberated for just one hour and 20 minutes before returning guilty verdicts for both defendants,” said Detective Constable George Lewin, Watford Local Crime Unit.
“Mohammed was under a Community Protection Notice that banned him from entering Watford, yet he blatantly ignored it and came here with Sarout to commit this violent attack.”
“Let this court result be a warning: carrying and using knives in Watford will not be tolerated. We will relentlessly pursue offenders and bring them before the courts.”
