Brutal Hostel Brawl in Nottingham Ends with Jail for Two Thugs

Late-Night Attack Shocks Nottingham Hostel

Jack Dennis, 21, and Gervais Davis, 20, launched a vicious assault on a fellow resident at a Nottingham hostel on London Road around 1am on 28 November 2021. The pair barged into the victim’s room after knocking and asking for a cigarette. When the victim asked them to wait outside, they ignored him and forced their way in.

Violence and Theft in Chilling Incident

Dennis grabbed the victim in a headlock and dragged him to his knees before landing repeated punches to his ribs. While the beating unfolded, Davis rifled through the victim’s belongings, stealing Nike trainers, jeans, two mobile phones, a bank card, and food.

Dennis didn’t stop there – he threatened to stab the victim “18 times” if he told anyone. He also warned that calling the police would result in arranged rape. The pair then fled the scene.

Caught on CCTV and Sentenced

Police nabbed Dennis and Davis after CCTV captured them entering the room at the time of the attack. Initially denying their involvement, the duo later pleaded guilty.

Nottingham Crown Court handed Dennis a jail term of four years and three months. Davis received a four-year sentence. Both have no fixed addresses.

Police Condemn Attack on Vulnerable Victim

Detective Constable Bethanie Foster of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Dennis and Davis preyed on a vulnerable victim for their own selfish gain. It was a despicable act and I would like to thank the victim for providing evidence so that both men could be taken off the streets.

This type of violent and targeted crime, especially against vulnerable people, will not be tolerated. Nottinghamshire Police will do everything in its power to protect the public from people like Dennis and Davis.”
