Man Attacks Woman and Police in Mansfield Street Brawl
Chaos hit Burns Street, Mansfield, shortly before 8pm on Wednesday (4 January) when a man was spotted attacking a woman in broad daylight.
Female Officer Chases Suspect – Then Gets Punched
A quick-acting female officer gave chase, but the suspect turned on her, landing a punch to her face in a nearby alleyway. The violence didn’t stop there.
Second Officer Struck Before Suspect Is Wrestled Down
The man then struck another officer before police wrestled him to the ground and detained him on the spot.
Suspect Held on Multiple Assault Charges
The 30-year-old remains in custody, charged with assaulting police officers, assault, and attempted criminal damage.
“Our response officers did a great job to bring this suspect under control – even after two of them were violently assaulted in the line of duty,” said Sergeant Jamie Bower of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Police patrol to protect the public, and that’s exactly what they did here. No officer should ever be assaulted while doing their job – but sadly, it’s a risk they face every day.”
