Tragic Death of Jack Lis After Dog Attack in Caerphilly

Jack Lis Dies in Horrific Dog Attack

Jack Lis, a young pupil at Cwm Ifor Primary School, tragically died following a savage dog attack on 8 November in a house on the Pentwyn estate, Penyrheol, Caerphilly. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while armed police were forced to shoot and kill the dog involved.

Two Locals Charged Over Deadly Incident

A 28-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man from Caerphilly have been charged with having a dog dangerously out of control causing injury leading to death. Both have been released on bail and are set to appear at Newport Magistrates Court on 7 April.

The 19-year-old male faces additional charges for five other counts of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, including two causing injury, linked to incidents between 4 and 7 November.

Police Continue Investigation Amid Community Shock

Gwent Police’s Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hobrough urged the public to avoid prejudicing the ongoing trial. He stated, “It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

Hobrough added, “Our investigation remains active. We continue to speak with other persons of interest as inquiries carry on. Since November, community interest has been significant. Please consider the impact your social media posts may have on the investigation and on Jack’s grieving family.”

Others Released Without Charge

Two other 18-year-old men from Caerphilly, initially arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing death, have been released without charge. A 35-year-old man from Mountain Ash, who voluntarily attended a police interview after the attack, was also released.

Our thoughts remain with Jack’s family, friends, and the entire Caerphilly community affected by this devastating tragedy.
