Two East Sussex Cops Sacked Over Assault on Teen

Two police officers from East Sussex have been booted from the force after being found guilty of assaulting a teenage girl. PC Deborah Sands, 48, and PC Kris Green, 36, faced a brutal misconduct hearing on Monday 14 March at Sussex Police HQ in Lewes.

Swift Action After Shocking Assault

The accelerated misconduct hearing was fast-tracked due to clear, undeniable evidence. Both officers were convicted in December 2021 of using excessive force on the girl during her detention in eastbourne/" title="Eastbourne" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Eastbourne back in May 2020. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) led the investigation.

Chief Constable Delivers Tough Verdict

Chief Constable Jo Shiner said: “We expect our officers to act with the utmost integrity, and in accordance with the force’s values, the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Professional Behaviour. The actions of these two officers fell short of that and in accordance with the College of Policing guidance, they have been dismissed from the force.”

The officers were charged with Discreditable Conduct, breaching professional standards. Now, they have been officially dismissed, sending a strong message about police accountability.
