Violent Car Thefts Rock Dartford and Rochester
Two men have been charged following a spate of violent car thefts near Dartford. Victims were not only robbed but also physically assaulted during the terrifying attacks.
Crimes Spanning Dartford Heath to Rochester Way
On the evening of Wednesday, September 4, a motorist stopped briefly at Dartford Heath. Masked men smashed his car window, attacked him, and drove off with his vehicle. Just days later, on Sunday, September 8, a second motorist suffered a similar fate on Rochester Way. The attackers reportedly used a stolen bank card from the vehicle to make a fraudulent purchase at a shop in Orpington.
Suspects Arrested and Charged
- Lewis Turner, 32, from Orpington, charged with robbery and fraud.
- Billy Scamp, 18, also from Orpington, charged with two counts of robbery.
- Thomas Ripley, 28, charged earlier with two robberies and Police Appeal After Liversedge Attempted Burglary on Hindley Road Kirkless">attempted burglary, still in custody.
Turner and Scamp appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on October 4, while Ripley is due at Maidstone Crown Court on October 11.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
