Two Boys Charged Over Assault in Town Centre
Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, have been slammed into custody after a violent assault in Worthing town centre. They appeared at 123 Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 16, facing serious charges including wounding with intent, affray, and possession of a knife or bladed article in public.
Police Crack Down Amid Rising Youth Violence
Both suspects remain in custody, awaiting their next court appearance. Sussex Police have confirmed that investigations continue, with officers urging any witnesses or those with information to come forward. A police spokesperson said:
“We have charged two suspects in connection with this incident, but we continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Sussex Police continues to respond to concerns about anti-social behaviour by a small group of young people in and around Worthing.”
Authorities are teaming up with Worthing District Council and Children’s Services to tackle the rise in youth violence and protect local communities.
Other Arrests Made, Some Released on Bail
- A 13-year-old boy arrested on February 15 for affray and possession of an offensive weapon has been bailed pending further investigation.
- Another 13-year-old arrested on February 13 for conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm is also out on bail.
- A 17-year-old arrested on the same day for the same offence was released without charge.
