Uber Rapist Locked Up for 12 Years After Attacking Passenger
Driver Betrays Trust and Commits Horrific Crime
An Uber driver has been jailed for 12 years after raping a passenger. Muhammad Khurram Durrani, 38, of Streatham, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, 10 May.
He received 12 years for rape and 8 years for sexual assault, to run concurrently. Durrani will also face a lifetime on the Sex Offenders Register, along with restraining and sexual harm protection orders.
Shocking Attack After Safe Journey Home
The court heard that on 23 July 2016, a 27-year-old woman booked an Uber after a night out. When she reached her front door, Durrani suddenly grabbed her from behind, dragged her to the back of his car, and sexually assaulted her.
He was arrested two days later and charged with the brutal crimes.
Detective Condemns Durrani’s ‘Betrayal of Trust’
“This woman booked the cab in good faith to safely take her home. Durrani, realising the vulnerability of his victim, abused her trust and raped her,” said Detective Constable Peter Monaghan.
“This assault has had a significant impact on her life. I thank her for her courage in coming forward.”
Police Urge Other Victims to Come Forward

Durrani faces deportation once his sentence is served.
