Violent thug bites off stranger’s ear in savage, unprovoked attack near Strood station – now jailed for seven years!
Brutal Ear-Biting Assault Shocks Strood
On February 28, 2022, an innocent man was viciously attacked after leaving Strood railway station. While chatting on the phone with his kids, the victim was verbally abused out of the blue by 32-year-old Louis Carter from Woolwich Road, Belvedere, London.
Despite the victim’s attempts to ignore him, Carter’s taunts quickly turned to violent threats as they walked towards Commercial Road.
Fight Ends With Grim Injury
The victim bravely punched Carter in self-defence, knocking him to the ground. But Carter wasn’t done. He jumped back up, launched at the victim, and savagely bit off a large chunk of the man’s ear before fleeing.
Good Samaritans retrieved the severed ear, kept it iced, and rushed it to hospital – but doctors couldn’t save it.
Caught on Camera, Carter Faces Justice
Miraculously, two children filmed the attack and CCTV from the station helped police identify Carter fast. He was arrested on May 18, 2022, then charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Despite pleading not guilty, Carter was convicted at Woolwich Crown Court and sentenced on February 6, 2025.
Hard-Hitting Jail Sentence – 12 Years in Total
- 7½ years behind bars
- 4½ years on licence after release
Carter can only apply for parole after serving his initial prison term.
Police Slam ‘Appalling’ Attack
“This was an appalling and unprovoked assault on a man simply speaking to his family on the phone,” said PC Alex Powell. “The victim tried to avoid trouble, but Carter was relentless and caused a horrific injury.
The victim’s courage has been remarkable despite now feeling anxious about leaving home or going to work. Thanks to him and witnesses, we’ve brought this violent man to justice.”
Community Demands Tougher Action on Violence
The shocking, random attack has rattled locals, sparking calls for stronger crackdowns on violent offenders. Louis Carter now faces a long stretch inside as Strood seeks reassurance and safety.
