Massive Police Blitz Shakes Up Sittingbourne Over the Weekend
Sittingbourne was under heavy police watch this weekend, with a major crackdown on crime and antisocial behaviour sweeping through the town. Arrests were made, drugs seized, and tough rules enforced to keep troublemakers at bay.
Heavy Police Presence Targets Knife Crime and Rowdy Behaviour
Officers patrolled hotspots including High Street, retail parks, and the railway station, targeting knife crime and drug dealing. The crackdown coincided with one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year, ensuring peace and safety for residents and visitors.
A dispersal order kicked in from Friday afternoon until Sunday 4pm, forcing two troublemakers out of the area. Police also confiscated booze and a stolen bike, while issuing warnings to others caught causing a nuisance.
Train Station Sting Leads to Arrests and Drug Busts
Local cops teamed up with British Transport Police for 15 stop-and-searches at Sittingbourne train station. Joshua Kennedy, 30, from Sheerness, was arrested on four shoplifting charges and remains in custody waiting for court.
Harry Burgess, wanted for breaching a court order and caught dodging train fares, was also locked up pending court action.
Officers busted four others carrying drugs like cannabis and cocaine. They received community resolutions and had their illegal substances seized. To keep night visitors safe, women arriving by train were given anti-spiking kits, a proactive move by police.
Chief Inspector Praises Operation’s Success
“This weekend has seen excellent results,” said Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster. “We’ve taken down those intent on crime and antisocial behaviour, while reassuring the community. This action responds directly to local concerns and will continue on future weekends.”
