West Kingsdown man locked up for over four years over sick online stalking spree
Persistent online harassment exposed
Andrew Bloomfield, 39, from West Kingsdown, has been sentenced to four years and two months behind bars for stalking two women through relentless online abuse.
Starting in 2013, Bloomfield bombarded his first victim with explicit images of naked men and crude sexual remarks, ignoring her pleas to stop. He hid behind multiple fake social media profiles to keep up the harassment.
Second victim targeted with 80 fake profiles
In 2016, Bloomfield launched a similar attack on a second woman, flooding her social feeds with graphic images of men’s genitals and offensive messages. To cover his tracks, he used around 80 fake accounts to torment her.
Shockingly, the two women knew each other and later realised they were both being abused by the same predator.
Police swoop and tough court sentence
Police launched a thorough investigation and arrested Bloomfield at his home on August 31, 2022. Officers seized his digital devices, uncovering clear evidence of his vile stalking and similar behaviour toward other women.
Bloomfield pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was handed a prison sentence plus a 10-year sexual harm prevention order banning him from using Facebook or Instagram under any fake names. He also faces an indefinite restraining order preventing all contact with his victims.
“This appalling man has caused misery for his two victims over several years,” said PC Callum Fullerton. “His disgusting messages and images left the women in considerable distress. He should be thoroughly ashamed. He thought the internet gave him anonymity, but he was wrong. The victims’ bravery ensured he has been brought to justice.”
Police warn online trolls: we will find you
Police are urging anyone suffering online harassment to speak up, reminding offenders that no amount of internet anonymity can shield them from punishment.
