Van Mounts Pavement, Hits Man with Child in Shocking Hit-and-Run
A man in his 20s was hurled into the air after being struck by a van on Burnham Road on Tuesday, 22 February 2022. The chilling collision happened just after 5.15pm as he walked with a young child.
Driver Flees Scene, Victim Injured
The van reportedly mounted the pavement and smashed into the man before speeding off without stopping. Emergency services rushed to the scene. Thankfully, the child escaped unharmed, but the man suffered several injuries. Police confirmed his condition is not life-threatening.
Police Hunting Driver and Witnesses

Arrest Made but Suspect Released
The day after the crash, officers arrested a 38-year-old man from Eltham. He faces charges including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was later released pending further investigation.
