Jesmin Akter Faces Manslaughter Charges

A 33-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the heartbreaking death of 11-year-old Fatiha Sabrin. The young girl was found unresponsive at a Sutton Street, E1, home on December 11, 2021. Following a thorough investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command, Jesmin Akter from the same street has been arrested and charged.

Serious Charges and Court Date Set

On Friday, 28 July, Akter was formally charged with manslaughter and importing a regulated substance. She is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 22 August to answer the charges.

Tragedy Strikes East London Family

Fatiha was rushed to hospital after being found lifeless in the property but tragically died on the same day despite emergency medical efforts. The loss has devastated her family, who are now receiving support from family liaison officers working closely with the police.
