Albanian Man Caught in Illegal Immigration Sting on A2
An Albanian man was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration by Kent Police and the National Crime Agency (NCA) on the A2 near Cobham. The suspect was stopped at around 7:30am on Saturday, 16 May, while travelling towards London.
Two More Detainees Held After HGV Smuggling Incident
Two other men, also believed to be Albanian nationals, were found in the same car. They are suspected of arriving illegally in the UK inside an HGV lorry. The pair were handed over to Immigration Enforcement and will face immigration proceedings.
NCA Raids Property in London as Investigation Unfolds
As part of the ongoing operation, NCA officers searched a property on Aberdeen Road, Edmonton, London. The investigation is being led by the NCA’s Invigor immigration crime task force.
“Our investigation into this apparent attempt to smuggle people into the UK illegally continues,” said Neil Gardner from the NCA. “Working with Kent Police, Border Force and Immigration Enforcement, we are determined to tackle the criminals and organised crime groups who risk migrants’ lives and treat them as commodities for profit.”
