Drugs bust in Colliers Wood! Man nabbed after cops find stash hidden in car roof
Police snag suspect after suspicious stop
A 32-year-old man was arrested following a dramatic stop and search in Colliers Wood on Sunday, 21 June. At 4.50pm, officers spotted a blue Mercedes swerving down a side road just as they approached in their police car. They quickly pulled the vehicle over on Warren Road, SW19, and noted the driver was juggling three mobile phones.
Baseball bat and drugs dog lead to huge find
During a search under the Drugs Act, officers uncovered a baseball bat in the boot. Sensing something was off, they called in police dog Stella, a five-year-old Met-trained veteran with a nose for trouble. Stella signalled towards the car’s roof lining. A quick peel back later and cops uncovered a stash of suspected Class A and B drugs cleverly concealed in the roof.
Man arrested – but later released pending inquiries
The man, from Thornton Heath, Surrey, was arrested for suspected possession with intent to supply both Class A and B drugs, plus possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released while police carry on with their investigations.
Detective praises teamwork and the power of stop and search
“This is one of many recent examples of joint work between my team here in the South West Violence Suppression Unit and our dog support unit colleagues,” said Detective Inspector Alison Foxwell. “It really shows how vital stop and search is in tackling the supply of controlled drugs. Drugs and the violence linked to them remain a top priority. We will keep working to disrupt and bring offenders to justice.”
Police dog Stella is no stranger to cracking cases – this is her second major drug find hidden in a car roof lining in just three months. The Met’s four-legged star continues to help clean up London’s streets one sniff at a time.
