Man in 50s Held After Shocking Pillowcase Attack on Young Woman in Stamford Hill

Suspect Arrested But Later Released Under Investigation

Police arrested a man in his 50s at a Haringey home last night on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Victim Attacked with Pillowcase Over Head

The horrifying assault happened around 6.30pm on Thursday, 18 March on Manor Road, Stamford Hill. The 20-year-old woman told officers the suspect sneaked up behind her, threw a pillowcase over her head, then attacked her.

She was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.

Police Hunt Motive, Stress Safety Measures

Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett described the attack as “appalling and unprovoked.” He reassured the community the incident is rare but taken very seriously.

“My officers do everything they possibly can to bring offenders to justice and keep our community safe,” he said.
