Police Crack Down on Anti-Social Driving in Margate
On Saturday 18 February, Margate’s roads saw a major police blitz as officers from the Road Safety Unit, Community Policing Team, and Margate Task Force joined forces. Their mission: clamp down on anti-social driving in the Dane Valley area.

- 4 drivers caught without insurance
- 7 slapped with speeding tickets
- 1 fined for using a mobile while driving
- 1 penalised for not wearing a seatbelt
- 1 driver hit with a Section 59 warning for reckless driving

High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest
The operation hit a high gear when officers chased a vehicle that refused to stop. After a brief pursuit, the car was found abandoned, and two suspects were nabbed nearby. A 21-year-old man has been charged with driving without insurance or a licence. The other suspect was released without charge.
Speed Demon Busted at 130mph
As the team left Thanet, a motorcyclist was caught blazing at 130mph on a 70mph road. The rider was served a Traffic Offence Report for dangerous speeding.
Chief Inspector Pledges Continued Action
“We are well aware of public concerns about road safety and anti-social behaviour in this area,” said Chief Inspector Ian Swallow of the Thanet Community Safety Unit. “The response from the community was fantastic. We spoke to residents to understand the issues they face. These operations are crucial, and we’ll keep them up to focus drivers and keep the district safe.”
