Retailers and Youth Engagement Key to Fighting Knife Crime
Police, alongside partner agencies, visited 22 shops to remind them about knife-selling laws. Most stores showed strong safety checks, with just a few needing advice. Officers also hit schools and colleges to warn young people about the dangers of knife crime and gang involvement.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys said: “We are always focused on tackling knife crime. The tactics used this week as part of Operation Sceptre support our ongoing work with partners to remove weapons from our streets.
“Knife crime has a devastating impact on communities. Our officers are relentless in chasing down criminals who carry weapons and spread violence across Kent.”
