A dramatic video shared on social media shows heavily armed Metropolitan Police officers in full tactical gear detaining the suspect right outside the pub. The footage reveals the air rifle lying on the ground under a table before officers quickly bagged the weapon.
Police Confirm Arrest and Ongoing Probe
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“Police were called at approximately 3:20pm on Friday after a member of the public spotted a man with a firearm near a pub in Collier Row Road, Romford. Armed officers attended promptly and arrested the man on suspicion of possessing a firearm. He remains in custody. It is believed the weapon was an air rifle, but enquiries continue to confirm this.”
Eyewitnesses Praise Quick Police Action
Bystanders described the police presence as overwhelming but commended officers for swift action. One witness said:
“It was surreal to see armed police here. They acted so quickly, and thankfully no one was hurt.”
