Drama at Brighton Marina as Boy Rescued from Rough Seas
An inshore lifeboat raced to the rescue after a 13-year-old boy got into trouble in choppy waters near Brighton Marina on Saturday afternoon.
Heroic Call from Calm 12-Year-Old Friend
The alarm was raised at 4.52pm by the boy’s friends who couldn’t help him as he struggled off the beach. Lifeboat crews reached the youngster within 15 minutes, pulling him safely from the sea.
Police praised a 12-year-old friend for staying cool under pressure, delivering “amazing” and “probably life-saving” information to emergency services during a tense phone call.
Police Warn: Don’t Underestimate the Sea
Despite expected easing winds, the sea remains dangerously rough. Chief Inspector Roy Hodder issued a stern warning: “It’s very easy for your feet to be swept from under you and dragged into deep water in next to no time.”
He urged parents to keep youngsters aware of the risks. “This lad was lucky. Huge credit goes to his friend whose calm phone call helped save a life.”
