Alarm in Middlesbrough as police swoop on group spotted with what looked like an AK47 at Roseberry Topping – but it was just a fake gun.

999 Calls Flood In Over ‘Gun’ Sighting

At around 1pm today, concerned locals dialled 999 after spotting a group of men waving what appeared to be a large AK47 near the summit of Roseberry Topping. The group was also seen holding a flag, sparking fears and a flurry of social media chatter after a video of the scene went viral online.

Police Confirm It Was Only a Replica

Cleveland Police arrived swiftly and spoke to the group. Officers soon confirmed the so-called weapon was an imitation firearm, not a real gun. The fake was promptly seized by the police, who then gave the men some stern advice about carrying such items in public.

This incident highlights the dangers of fake weapons causing panic and unnecessary emergency responses.
