Police from Hampshire Constabulary are racing to find the weapon used to stab an 18-year-old boy twice in the back in Cowes. The shocking attack unfolded in the early hours on Love Lane, sparking a major emergency response.
Frenzied Attack in Quiet Neighbourhood
Three men plunged the quiet street into chaos before fleeing in a vehicle. Crime scene investigators and Isle of Wight police are combing the area for forensic clues. The victim remains hospitalised but is expected to survive.
A local resident, who wished to stay anonymous, told reporters: “I heard the attack and saw the men running towards their vehicle. I just knew something was wrong.”
She added, “The Isle has always felt safe, but waking up to this? I thought the noise was just kids being noisy in the park.”
CCTV and Forensics Shed Light on the Attack
Officers revealed that CCTV footage from a nearby business caught the horrifying assault. Forensic teams in white suits meticulously examined the scene, hunting for the discarded knife.
Detective Sergeant Roger Whitewick said: “This was a serious assault in a residential area. We believe witnesses live nearby and we urge anyone who saw suspicious behaviour to come forward.”
