Horrific Hornchurch Home Invasion: Elderly Couple Attacked in Deadly Burglary

Brutal Break-In on Parkstone Avenue

Detectives are hunting down vicious burglars after a terrifying attack on an elderly couple in Hornchurch. On Saturday, 18 April, around 8.30pm, a gang forced their way into a home on Parkstone Avenue through the back door.

The intruders sprayed fire extinguishers in the elderly victims’ faces before threatening them. The male victim suffered a cut hand, possibly from a screwdriver. The female victim was shoved to the floor and forced to stay behind a chair while the man was brutally questioned over hidden cash.

The attackers—three or four suspects wearing gloves and face coverings—ransacked the house and fled with a small amount of money. The woman escaped without physical injuries, but the man was rushed to hospital as a precaution.

Witnesses reported the suspects spoke with Eastern European accents, adding a chilling edge to the mystery.

Police Plead for Help and Witnesses

T/DC Ciara Arthur from the East Area Burglary and Robbery Investigation Team urged locals to come forward:

“The streets were quiet at the time, so any suspicious behaviour would have stood out. Did you see unusual cars, groups of men rushing about, or discarded gloves and face coverings? Please share anything you know.”

She added, “Check your dashcam or home security footage between 8.30pm and 9.00pm; it might capture these criminals.”

She also called on the community to provide any names of suspects or anyone who may have suddenly come into money that night. Reports can be made to police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
