Sixty MPH BMW Mini Chase Ends in Crumpled Crash with London Bus
A wild police chase in Ilford ended in chaos after a white BMW Mini smashed into a Route 366 bus near Beckton Junction. Fire crews had to cut the Mini’s driver free from the wreckage following a high-speed crash on Loxford Lane around 10.48pm on Tuesday.
Five Bus Passengers Escape Serious Injury
The bus was due to terminate at Beckton Junction when the Mini careered into it. Emergency responders swiftly freed the trapped bus driver and five passengers by removing the bus’s windscreen. Thankfully, all five escaped serious injury and were checked over by London Air Ambulance HEMS medics called to the scene.
Undercover Police Chase Ends in Dramatic Collision
The Mini was being pursued by an undercover traffic unit after refusing to stop for police who had their blue lights flashing. The dramatic chase, reportedly reaching speeds of up to sixty miles per hour, ended with the BMW crashing into the bus on a busy Ilford road.
Investigation Underway, Road Closures Expected
Specialist collision investigators from the Met Police Chadwell Heath traffic garage are now probing the cause of the crash. Authorities have closed Loxford Lane to carry out a full investigation, with road closures expected to remain in place for some time.
The Mini driver was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital. His condition is currently unknown. Both the Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
