Watch Snatched After Fake Directions Trick in Tunbridge Wells
A man in his fifties was robbed in broad daylight in The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells, on Tuesday, January 10, at around 12.25pm. Two women approached him, speaking in foreign languages and pretending they couldn’t understand English, before stealing his watch.
Victim Distracted by Women Asking for Directions
The women asked for directions. While the victim was distracted, one grabbed his wrist, shook his hand, and pressed it to her chest. Moments later, the man realised his Rolex Air-King watch was gone. The suspects quickly fled, believed to have jumped into a car driven by a third person.
Sentimental Rolex Taken – Police Warn of Possible Other Victims
Detective Sergeant Rachel Howson of West Kent CID said, “The watch stolen in this case is extremely sentimental to the victim because it belonged to his late father.” The stolen watch is a Rolex Air-King, serial number 160 Y297696.
She warned, “It is likely that the suspects targeted other potential victims in and around the Tunbridge Wells area.”
