Mother and Disabled Daughter Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide
A 40-year-old mother and her eight-year-old disabled daughter have been tragically found dead at their home in South Radford Street. Police are investigating the heartbreaking case as a potential murder-suicide.
Grim Discovery on South Radford Street
Martina Karos and her daughter Eleni Edwards were discovered shortly after 10:30 a.m. yesterday following a welfare call. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed they are not hunting anyone else and described the scene as having “no suspicious circumstances.” Detectives believe the deaths are linked in a murder-suicide.
Devoted Mother of Disabled Daughter
Martina, who was half-Polish and half-Italian, cared for Eleni, who had severe disabilities and relied entirely on her mother. Neighbours painted a picture of a devoted mum doing everything for her child. One neighbour said, “She spent most of her time at home looking after her daughter. Eleni was hugely dependent on her mum.”
Another added, “It’s so sad. The mother really doted on her daughter… I spoke to her a month ago, and she seemed to have the world on her shoulders.” Eleni used a walking frame and was collected daily by a bus for school.
Community in Shock and Mourning
Flowers and a teddy bear have been left outside the family home as locals pay their respects. Salford City Council expressed condolences, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives.”
Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley from GMP said, “It is such a tragic loss of life, and our main priority is keeping their loved ones updated throughout the investigation.” A police cordon remains as investigations continue.
