Blaze Rips Through West Tilbury Yard, Destroying Eight Lorries

A huge fire tore through a lorry yard in West Tilbury, Essex, late last night, reducing eight vehicles to burnt-out wrecks and sparking a full fire investigation.

Inferno Erupts Just Before Midnight

The fire broke out at 11:45 pm, quickly engulfing the eight lorries. Fire crews called in reinforcements from across Essex to battle the massive blaze. A specialist Water Bowser was brought in from nearby Corringham to supply the huge amounts of water needed to fight the flames.

Firefighters Stop Blaze From Spreading

Despite the scale of the fire, brave firefighters managed to keep it contained within the yard, preventing damage to adjacent units. Station Manager Dean Riley praised their swift action, saying, “Crews worked quickly to establish a water supply, and this helped firefighters contain the fire to the lorries and prevented it from spreading to nearby units in the yard.”

  • Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service rushed to the scene.
  • Thankfully, no one was hurt.
  • Several vehicles were damaged beyond repair.
  • The fire and rescue team has launched an official investigation to determine the cause of the destructive blaze.

Police confirmed their ongoing presence as they work alongside fire officials. Authorities are combing through clues to uncover what sparked the fire that caused major property damage but miraculously no injuries. Further updates will follow as the probe unfolds.
