Package Erupts into Flames Near Blackfriars Station
Chaos hit Blackfriars Underground Station on Monday afternoon when a suspicious package suddenly caught fire around 2pm. Passengers and bystanders were left shaken as smoke billowed near one of the platforms at the busy London transport hub.

A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed: “Officers were called to Blackfriars underground station at around 1.45pm today (9 October) to reports of a suspicious package on fire. London Fire Brigade attended along with officers. The station was evacuated and cordoned off as a precaution, the item was deemed to be non-suspicious and the station will shortly be re-opened. Enquiries are ongoing.”
