Man Dies After Collision with Police Car on A259, Peacehaven
A 27-year-old man tragically died after being struck by a police vehicle on the A259 in Peacehaven just after 11.10pm on Saturday, 30 April.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The man was in the road near the junction of Dorothy Avenue when he collided with a marked police car. Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Independent Investigation Underway
Because a police vehicle was involved, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched a full probe. A section of the A259 South Coast Road was closed both ways but has since reopened. However, the closure at the Bramber Avenue junction remains in place.
Chief Superintendent Jo Banks said: “This is a tragic incident and we are fully supporting the IOPC investigation. We want to thank drivers and residents for their patience while the A259 South Coast Road was closed.”
