Sheep Mauled by Dog in Ashdown Forest Tragedy
A sheep was viciously attacked by a dog in Ashdown Forest on the night of June 6th or early June 7th. The shocking assault happened inside the permanent grazing enclosure on the South Chase.
The ewe was discovered near the Duddleswell cattle grid, suffering from severe bite wounds to her back legs. She was rushed to Crest Farm for urgent treatment, but tragically, she died overnight on June 7th.
Owner’s Efforts Can’t Save Ewe
The sheep’s owner fought hard to save her, providing diligent care after the attack. Despite these efforts, the injuries proved fatal.
Warning to Dog Owners: Keep Pets on Leads Around Livestock
This incident puts the spotlight on responsible dog ownership in rural areas.
