Good Samaritan Granny Battered to Death with Her Own Walking Stick in Crawley Down

Sandy Seagrove, 76, known as “Prince,” was brutally bludgeoned to death with her own walking stick as she tried to help another victim during a street argument in Crawley Down, West Sussex. The horrifying attack saw the crazed suspect use Sandy’s walking stick against her before turning on a 32-year-old woman, who remains critically ill in hospital.

Two Women Killed in Shocking Street Murder

Police were called to 100 Hazel Way early on Sunday morning (22 December) to find Sandy dead in a pool of blood outside the house. The younger woman, believed to be the former partner of the arrested man, was found critically injured alongside her.

Detectives confirmed both women, aged 32 and 76, were murdered in what officers describe as a tragic and isolated incident.

Suspect Arrested and Critically Injured

A 37-year-old man was found seriously hurt inside the property and is currently under arrest on suspicion of murder. He remains in a critical condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Police Call for Calm and Witnesses

“This is a tragic incident which has led to the death of two local women, one known to the suspect,” said Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team. “Members of the public, police, and paramedics did all they could, but sadly both women died at the scene. We ask for privacy for the families at this distressing time.”

Chief Superintendent Jerry Westerman added: “This shocking incident has shaken the community. Officers will remain in the area to reassure residents. If you have any information, please come forward.”
