Tragic Crash Claims Three Young Lives in Shropshire
The first picture has emerged of Simon Evans, 18, who died alongside two friends in a fatal car crash on a Shropshire road last Friday night.
Tragedy on Offoxey Road
Simon, from Perton, Wolverhampton, was pronounced dead at the scene after the silver Audi A1 he was in crashed on Offoxey Road in Tong, near Shifnal, just after 11:15pm on March 14.
His friends Jacob Holeman, 17, from Codsall, Staffordshire, and Jenson Bridges, also 17, lost their lives too. Jacob died the following day in hospital. A fourth teenager remains seriously injured, battling life-changing injuries.
“A Gentleman Older Than His Years”
Simon’s family paid a moving tribute, describing him as a “much-loved son, brother, grandson and friend” who brought joy to everyone who knew him.
“He was just a lovely, friendly person always with a smile on his face. He was so family-orientated and would do absolutely anything for his friends, who he was very loyal to,” the family said.
Simon was an adventurous spirit who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, darts, mountain biking, pool, and golf. He held a blue belt in Taekwondo and had even become a world champion before pursuing new passions.
Recently promoted to sous chef at his part-time job, Simon was proud of his achievements. He was also studying light vehicle mechanics at college, excelling in his coursework.
“Nothing was too much for Simon. He really was a gentleman older than his years,” the family added.
Floral Tributes and Police Appeal
Floral tributes now cover the crash site where emergency crews battled through the night trying to save lives. Police believe the Audi had been travelling alongside a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black VW Golf, which were not involved in the collision.
West Mercia Police continue their probe and urge anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage—especially from the Bishops Wood and Brewood areas around 11pm on March 14—to come forward.
Inspector Steph Arrowsmith said: “We believe the Audi was travelling in convoy with two other vehicles. While they were not involved in the crash, we’re hoping other motorists may remember seeing the three cars and can provide useful information.”
Anyone with information should contact West Mercia Police quoting incident reference from March 14.
The families involved have asked for privacy as they grieve this terrible loss.
