The first picture has emerged of 27-year-old Soriah Barry, who died after her car smashed into a stationary double-decker bus in East London.

The horrific collision happened early on Saturday, February 8, on Lea Bridge Road, Clapton. Soriah suffered fatal injuries in the smash.

Heartbreaking Tributes Pour In

Soriah’s cousin, Jamilah Barry, described her as a “deeply beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, and cousin.” She added:

“Soriah was fierce, loyal, and wow – so full of life. She touched so many hearts, and we want to honour her with the farewell she deserves.”

Jamilah has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs, already raising nearly £5,000. She shared a tearjerking message:

“Losing her so suddenly has been devastating. I’ll never really have the words. One of my favourite people in the world is no longer here with us. I’m still waiting for you, Soriah.”

Early Morning Horror on Lea Bridge Road

The crash happened at around 6:50 AM when Soriah’s car ploughed into the parked bus, causing serious damage. Emergency teams raced to the scene, desperately trying to save her life before she was taken to hospital, where she sadly died soon after.

Eyewitnesses described the terrifying impact:

“There was a bang like an explosion. I looked out, and the car was crumpled. There was smoke and steam coming from the vehicles.”

Another bystander recalled the frantic efforts to save Soriah:

“Emergency workers tried so hard to save her life. The paramedics and firefighters took turns giving chest compressions. They did their best. My heart goes out to her family.”

The bus driver was seen distraught and in shock, dropping to his knees at the scene.

Police Investigation and Appeal

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are probing the circumstances of the crash. Lea Bridge Road was closed temporarily as forensic teams combed the scene.

The police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
