Fugitive Nabbed in Blackburn After Daring Prison Van Escape
A manhunt ended this weekend as Jamie Cooper, 33, caught after fleeing prison transport on the M55 motorway, was found in a car in Blackburn.
Escape from Prison Van Sparks Massive Hunt
Cooper, originally from Blackpool, ditched custody on Wednesday morning by jumping from a GEOAmey prison van near Preston. The van was cruising along the M55 near Junction 2 when he made his break shortly before 9am.
Found Traveling From Bolton, Arrested on Suspicion of Escape
Police spotted Cooper on Saturday afternoon as a passenger in a vehicle that had come from Bolton. Lancashire Police swooped and arrested him on suspicion of escaping lawful custody.
Details on Arrest Vehicle and Possible Accomplices Still Under Wraps
Officials have not disclosed what car Cooper was found in or whether others were involved. The investigation continues.
“Jamie Cooper was on the run since Wednesday after escaping from a prison transport van. We arrested him in Blackburn as part of an ongoing probe,” said a Lancashire Police spokesperson.
