Chaos at Gillingham Match: Pitch Invasion Sparks Violent Disorder
A wild pitch invasion broke out after Gillingham FC clashed with Rotherham United on Saturday, 30 April 2022. Scores of fans stormed the field, sparking fights and throwing objects.
Police Launch Full Investigation
Kent Police are cracking down after reviewing hours of footage. They have identified several suspects and released fresh images, hoping the public can help. So far, eight more arrests have been made over violent disorder and public order offences.
Who Are The Suspects?
The seven men under suspicion come from around Kent:
- 24-year-old from Faversham
- 21-year-old from Faversham
- 23-year-old from Rochester
- 27-year-old from Tonbridge
- 25-year-old from Maidstone
- 25-year-old from Gillingham
- 25-year-old from Sheppey
Police are also probing offences committed by visitors from outside Kent who invaded the pitch from the Rotherham end of the stadium.
