Dover Youth Get Digital Lifeline with Police Fund Boost
Youngsters in Dover are scoring a digital upgrade thanks to a fresh batch of new computer kit. The gear was handed over by the Kent Police Property Fund to help jumpstart youth employment and training in the area.
High-Tech Gear Donated to Future Skills CIC
As part of Kent Police’s ongoing community drive, five Chromebooks and a laptop were gifted to Future Skills CIC, a local group dedicated to boosting young people’s skills and job prospects.
The handover took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, with Chief Inspector Liz Cokayne-Delves, Dover’s District Commander, personally presenting the devices to Carol Clayton and Andy Dennis from Future Skills.
Chief Inspector Cokayne-Delves said: “It is a pleasure to donate towards a great cause that supports and encourages the younger members of our community. By helping them develop new skills, we reduce the risk of individuals being drawn toward criminal behaviour and instead offer a more positive, brighter future.”
Funding from Police Property Sales Supports Crime Prevention
The Kent Police Property Fund pools cash raised from selling unclaimed property and items seized in police operations. This money is then funnelled into community projects that focus on crime prevention, youth engagement, and public wellbeing across Kent.
The new tech means every young person on the Future Skills programme will have access to crucial digital tools as they prepare for jobs, further education, or vocational training.
Andy Dennis of Future Skills CIC added: “This generous donation is already making a difference. Many of the young people we support wouldn’t have access to a computer at home. These devices open doors to learning, job applications, and personal development.”
Backing Local Communities to Build Brighter Futures
This latest handout is part of a series of grants from the Kent Police Property Fund designed to empower communities, deter youth crime, and create positive futures for young people.
Community groups aligned with Kent Police’s goals for engagement and crime prevention are invited to apply for funding throughout the year.
