Man Utd Snap Up £64m Danish Striker Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United have pulled off a major coup by signing 20-year-old Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a whopping £64 million ($82 million). The youngster has penned a five-year deal with an option for a sixth season, giving Erik ten Hag the firepower boost he craved ahead of the Premier League kick-off.
Huge Potential With Big-Price Tag
The deal could rise to £72 million with add-ons, but United are betting big on Hojlund’s talent. The striker, who has admired the Red Devils since childhood, said: “I am ready to repay the faith shown in me and step up to play alongside world-class players.”
Ten Hag made Hojlund his No.1 target after the club balked at Tottenham’s sky-high asking price for Harry Kane—who now looks set for Bayern Munich. Paris Saint-Germain were also eyeing the Danish star before Man U snapped him up.
A New Threat for Old Trafford
Hojlund’s arrival tackles a glaring problem — United’s lack of cutting edge last season, despite finishing third in the league. Football director John Murtough hailed the striker as “an exceptional talent with technical and physical skills that rank him among the very best for his age.”
The 6ft 2in forward’s rise has been rapid. From FC Copenhagen in 2020, to Sturm Graz, then Atalanta where he netted 10 goals in 34 games last term, catching Ten Hag’s eye. His Atalanta boss even compared him to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, underlining his Premier League potential.
Fresh Firepower to Fire Rashford and United to Glory
Hojlund’s style and finishing will also free up Marcus Rashford to play on his favoured left wing. Under Ten Hag’s watchful eye, the new signing aims to shine alongside United’s stars.
After delivering United’s first trophy in six years last season with a League Cup win, Ten Hag now wants a serious title challenge. With Hojlund among three major signings arriving at Old Trafford, Red Devils fans have plenty to cheer this season.
Mark your calendars! Hojlund could make his debut when United face Wolves at Old Trafford on August 14.
