Armed Police Raid Shakes Quiet Kent Village: Eight Arrested in Otham
Kent Police launched a dramatic armed raid in the sleepy village of Otham, near Maidstone, early Sunday morning. Eight people have been arrested and one man rushed to hospital amid the chaos.
Armed Officers Storm Pub and Residences
In a high-drama operation, armed officers in full body armour and carrying G36 Carbines descended on the White Horse Pub and nearby properties just before midnight on Saturday. The team conducted a thorough search, leading a number of men away in handcuffs. Two suspects were pulled from a white Mercedes, doors flung wide open as officers sealed off the scene with a tight cordon.
Witnesses heard officers shouting, “Armed Police get on the floor and out with your hands up!” as the two-hour operation unfolded. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, fully kitted in ballistic vests and facemasks, treated and took one man to hospital. A specialist HART paramedic team also supported the operation inside the “hot zone.”
Violent Fracas Sparks Police Action
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed the violent incident began shortly before midnight on White Horse Lane. “A large group became involved in a verbal and physical altercation,” the statement read. Witnesses reported the sighting of a possible weapon, prompting officers to respond with armed backup.
Eight people – six men and two women – were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported and no weapons were recovered during the raid.
