Tragic Death of 22-Year-Old Man After Early Morning Crash Near Wigston
A 22-year-old man has died following a serious collision near Wigston, Leicestershire. The crash happened just before 6:30am on Friday, 17 January on a road between Kilby and the River Sence.
The young man was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but sadly passed away three days later, on Monday, 20 January.
Man Arrested and Released Amid Investigation
A 53-year-old man was arrested in connection with the collision. He has since been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
Detective Constable Paul Hicks of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said:
“Officers are providing support to the man’s family at this difficult time. Our investigation to establish the circumstances of what happened is continuing, and I’d appeal for anyone who can help, but who has not yet spoken to us, to come forward.”
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Leicestershire Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the crash to come forward and help with the investigation.
