Investigation & Safety Reassurance
Detective Sergeant David 1 said: “We’ve issued two e-fit images hoping someone will recognise these men. The victim has helped us refine the descriptions.”
He added that specialist teams from Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called in to identify the liquid, which preliminary tests show is Sodium Hydroxide — aka caustic soda.
Good news: “This substance does not pose a wider risk to the public,” DS David confirmed.
The victim was rushed to hospital with facial injuries and remains under treatment.
