Shocking Attack in Solihull as Elderly Man Rammed into Ditch by White Car
81-Year-Old Targeted in Brutal Road Rage Incident
Shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday 7 May, an 81-year-old cyclist was deliberately knocked into a ditch on Warings Green Road, Solihull. A small white car rammed into him, sending him flying. The victim suffered severe bruising to his legs and face, plus a broken wrist requiring hospital treatment.
Masked Thugs Flee with Stolen Bike
Three men jumped out of the car after the crash. One sped away on the victim’s bike – a blue Trek FS4 Firefly he had bought just a week earlier. Police are urgently investigating, combing through CCTV in the area to identify the culprits.
Police Beg Public for Info on Stolen Bike and Dash-Cam Footage
Detective Constable David Spencer urged locals to come forward:
“The victim initially overtook the white car but shortly afterwards it pulled up in front of him and three men wearing masks got out. He tried to cycle off but the car rammed him into a ditch. He suffered nasty injuries but it could have been much worse.
“This is a despicable offence. The victim could have been one of your elderly relatives. Do the right thing. You can contact us anonymously – we don’t need your name, just information on who’s responsible.”
Police want anyone offered the stolen bike for sale, or who knows someone recently with a bike like the pictured Trek FS4 Firefly, to get in touch. They’re also appealing to motorists or cyclists with dash-cam or helmet cam footage of the small white car in the area.
