Man Stabbed in Shocking Evening Attack on St Mary’s Street
A 36-year-old man was seriously injured in a knife attack on St Mary’s Street just after 6.15pm on Tuesday, 10 August. The victim suffered severe wounds to his leg in the brutal assault.
Police Arrest Suspect After Armed Response Rushes to Scene
Armed police quickly swooped on the area, launching an immediate search. They arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody as inquiries continue.

Inspector Al Dineley of southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton Central’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We know there was a large police presence in the area last night which may have caused concern amongst some residents.
“We want to reassure you that tackling serious violence and weapon-related crime remains our top priority. We urge anyone with information about this incident, especially drivers with dash cam footage, to contact us.”
